Use Firefox!
For those of you who don’t know what it is, Mozilla Firefox Web Browser is “the faster, more secure, and fully customizable way to surf the web” and is 100% free. There are a number of good reasons to switch to Firefox from Internet Explorer (see here as well). For me the biggest reasons are:
(1) Firefox is safer. Most programs that will cause you problems, such as spyware, are programmed for IE, which has less security and a higher market share (largely due to the fact it is used by businesses. In addition many hackers target IE as many of them have a distinctly anti-Microsoft bent.
(2) Tabbed browsing. Some version of IE now have this, but I find the Firefox interface more user friendly, which leads me too…
(3) Better, more intuitive user interface.
(4) Plug-ins and add-ons. I currently have a plug-in installed that tells me whenever I get an email and one that allows me to view web page source codes and to see what the page would look like if they were changed.
(5) Frequent updates. This is anecdotal, but in my experience Firefox updates more often than IE.
(6) Download manager that lets you view the progress of multiple downloads in one window.
(7) Faster browsing. Most web pages load faster in Firefox than in IE.
(8) It’s free, comes with no malware and is easy to uninstall so there’s no risk.
(9) All the cool kids are doing it, which leads me to…
(10) Caps Blue Line is designed to be viewed in Firefox and thus it looks much better and is much easier to use in Firefox than in IE.
