2/14, 9:32 PM - So did he gain weight or lose weight?

At the moment the quote of the day goes to Bruce Boudreau, who said of Tomas Fleischmann:

“His first year with me [he weighed] 170. This year he is 180. I would think he could be at 187 or 190 next year. If he can keep the same speed — and I do not think that will affect his mindset — I think it will only benefit him.

Fleischmann is listed by the Capitals at 192 pounds.

I know sports teams have a tendency/reputation to fudge guys heights and weights, but 12 pounds?

  1. 1) The key phrase is NOT the weight dscrepency but what Boudreau said ” If he can keep the same speed….”
    2) To that we say” What f-ing speed”!?! If anyone has a poor nick-name its Fleischman. ‘Flash’, is anything but! He’s always a step behind the play. He has no blazing speed that we have even witnessed. Infact he looks slower than most on the ice. He might be a great AHL-er, but so far he has shown nothing to believe he wil be a top 6 NHL forward!

    2) I think Fleischmann actually has okay speed, but I think he’s far too tentative and unsure of himself and so he doesn’t use it often enough.

  3. […] The Capitals are one of the biggest teams in the NHL (despite that they seem to have a tendency to exaggerate their player’s size), have a myriad of skilled players and were playing at home against a […]
